Just like its predecessor, Harrison’s film BLADE RUNNER 2049 will be making its mark on the home video market. The bluray/dvd sales for the film have been strong with it taking in over $21m in units sold. BLADE RUNNER from 1981 didn’t find life until it too was released to VHS (yeah I know, what’s that?). During the latter part of the 80s the film found new life and new respect after its initial theatrical release. While the numbers are not good in terms of us getting that Replicant rebellion, this will prove that BLADE RUNNER 2049 will gain the same momentum as BLADE RUNNER, and other films such as 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Fountain, Solaris and others in the genre of cerebral science fiction. Here’s the article:

‘Blade Runner 2049’ Finds Second Life on DVD and Blu-Ray With Over $21 Million in 2018 Sales

Box office hits “It” and “Wonder” are also doing huge business on home video this year.

Denis Villeneuve’s “Blade Runner 2049” was an unfortunate flop for Warner Bros. during its theatrical release last year. Despite earning critical acclaim (IndieWire gave the film an A- review), the long-awaited sequel just couldn’t catch on in theaters. “2049” tapped out with just $92 million in the U.S. and $259 million worldwide, well below the estimated $300 million the studio spent on production and marketing. But it turns out the sequel is still making money.

According to the industry data and research outlet The Numbers, “2049” has pulled in an impressive $21 million and counting from home video sales just in 2018. The movie was released December 26, 2017 on DVD, followed by a Blu-ra release January 16, 2018. The home video gross is inching “2049” closer to matching its $300 budget. The total 2018 gross is split between $3.8 million worth of DVDs sold and nearly $18 million worth of Blu-ray copies.

With $21 million earned as of April 2018, “2049” is the third highest-grossing home video release of 2018, trailing only the horror blockbuster “It” and the family box office surprise “Wonder.” Villeneuve’s movie pulls ahead of “Wonder” on the Blu-ray chart and sits in the #2 position behind “It.” Overall, “2049” has sold just under one million DVD and Blu-rays in 2018.

The film’s huge home video sales are surprising given its disappointing theatrical run and the fact”2049″ opened all the way back in October. Positive reviews and the film’s five Oscar nominations and two wins in January and February seem to have kept the title in rotation. IndieWire has reached out to Warner Bros. for comment.

Check out this year’s home video rankings as of April 11 below. The Numbers‘ gross estimates are based on weekly retail surveys.

The ABC series The Goldbergs is sending its creative eye at an Indiana Jones parody. The show is about the 80s and all its glory. So far the show has sent up films such as Dirty Dancing, Risky Business, and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, but now it turns its creative juices to Harrison’s iconic archaeologist hero Indiana Jones. I was contacted by the show and I thought Harrion’s fans might bet a kick out of this part send-up and part homage to our guy. Here’s more information and a trailer for the episode. Please give it a view. Thanks to Danielle for this information.

We have a release date for Harrison’s return to the adventure of INDIANA JONES franchise. It’s July 10, 2020. Mark your calendars as I’m suspecting this will be Harrison’s final appearance as our intrepid archaeologist. The film will be directed by Steven Spielberg and written by Philip Kaufman, David Koepp, and George Lucas. No word yet on the official title of the film.

Some information on the release date for Harrison’s film BLADE RUNNER 2049. It’ll be available for home video on 16 January, 2018. I’m including the box art as well as a rundown of the extras that will be included in the release.

    Behind-the-scenes featurettes:

  • Designing the World of Blade Runner 2049
  • To Be Human: Casting Blade Runner 2049
  • Blade Runner 101: Blade Runners
  • Blade Runner 101: The Replicant Evolution
  • Blade Runner 101: The Rise of Wallace Corp
  • Blade Runner 101: Welcome to 2049
  • Blade Runner 101: Joi
  • Blade Runner 101: Within the Skies
  • Prologue films:

  • 2036: Nexus Dawn
  • 2048: Nowhere to Run
  • 2022: Black Out

I was looking at some videos of Harrison on Youtube and found this quite humourous one with his COWBOYS & ALIENS director Jon Favreau where they talk about the film, how he got the role of Han Solo in STAR WARS, carpentry for Francis Ford Coppola who Harrison worked with on APOCALYPSE NOW. The interview was funny and I thought I’d share it with you. I’m not sure how much Alikat covered in terms of the film but I thought this would be a cute interview for my visitors and a fun thing I’m calling Flashback Ford. Enjoy.

There is a Youtube content creator by the name of Tyler Knudsen who goes under the name of Cinema Tyler. His channel is dedicated to the art of filmmaking. He’s done so many videos on one of my favourite films 2001: A Space Odyssey starring Keir Dullea (you can click on his name to get to my site on him or click on the link in the sidebar….). This time Tyler covers the creation of the world of BLADE RUNNER 2049 starring our guy Harrison Ford. Please consider going over to his channel and supporting his content. He’s an amazing talent.

Another great interview with Harrison talking about BLADE RUNNER 2049 and the original BLADE RUNNER. Again being candid about his career and private life, Harrison is very praiseworthy of Ryan Gosling, Denis Villeneuve and the film, while remaining non-committal about his past with Ridley Scott. He also talks about Han Solo’s death and takes his hat off for Mark Hamill’s (Luke Skywalker) herculean task of keeping the STAR WARS franchise on the straight and narrow in light of the sudden passing of co-star Carrie Fisher (Leia Organa). All in all a wonderful interview.

Harrison sat down with PBS’ Charlie Rose to discuss BLADE RUNNER 2049 and bringing Rick Deckard back after thirty-five years. He also talks about flying, life and why Han Solo had to die. It’s a very revealing interview, which is a bit shocking for someone like Harrison who has guarded his privacy for so long.
